Setting: setting is one of the most important elements to me because without the setting of where someone is then the understatement of everything would be twice as hard and make the viewer have to think about what's going on a lot more. Imagine if starwars never said the name of the plant they are going to. people would just believe that they are on the same plant the hole time.
Decor: the decor in a scene can completely change the viewers understatement of the time it was shot or where it was shot once again in star wars what if the death star was white then many people would think its the good guys because of their understanding of decor with relation to color. many colors can relate to different things like for me i think black is the color of death and what do the bad guys do, they kill people. so i relate the color black to death and bad guys killing people so black as for bad guys.
Lighting: lighting can have a huge impact on a scene if a character is hiding you would either expect it to be completely dark or maybe there are holes that light comes through to make it like you are also hiding. when you are playing hide and seek as a kid there is normally going to be a hiding spot in the closet and even though the doors are solid wood there are still the cracks at the bottom of the door and the top that light can go through so lighting in a movie needs to be realistic. Imagine if a character was hiding with all of the lights on, i just wouldn't make sense.
Depth of Space: This can be very important because in some films there are gong to be people yelling from across the street, behind a fence or a bush. but how would the audience know how far away he actually is. normally there will be houses in between and people know how to reference a house to distance so i can give people a perspective. in star wars when people are traveling to a place the planet will normally get bigger and bigger as they come closer so the audience will know how big the planet really is.
Costumes and Makeup: costume and makeup is another very very important thing, because in the movie the hunger games there are lots of different districts and people from the districts all look very different. At the capital they are all fancy and all where very weird clothes because it represents how the capital is very rich where as the other districts for example district 12 their clothes are often very old and lots of people are often dirty.
